There are distinguished methods of legal reasoning and methods of deciphering the law. The former are legal syllogism, which holds sway in civil law legal methods, analogy, which is present in widespread law authorized systems, especially in the US, and argumentative theories that occur in each techniques. The latter are different guidelines of legal interpretation similar to directives of linguistic interpretation, teleological interpretation or systemic interpretation in addition to more specific guidelines, for example, golden rule or mischief rule.
